OUR SUSTAINABILITY
As a salon team with a strong focus on sustainability and an eye on global warming, we decided 4 years ago to join the Sustainable Salons Australia program. This program is about recycling and up-cycling as much waste as possible from our salon. We wanted to know as a business and as a team that we are trying our best to look after the environment.
As a salon we choose to partner with Product brands that have a similar environmental ethos, companies like Kevin Murphy haircare & Davines haircare. Companies that are as focused as we are towards ensuring we are doing as much as we can to make a difference. Both these ranges use natural derived ingredients, recycled ocean plastics for there packaging and in Davines case are 100% carbon off set.
Sustainable salons Australia have established a network of collectors, recyclers, manufacturers and distributors to make sure up to 95% of materials from our salon are diverted from landfill.
Our plastics are collected, cleaned and upcycled into new products.
All salon metals (including foil) and paper are sold for recycling, and the proceeds are donated to OzHarvest and KiwiHarvest to provide meals for hungry people.
Hair is collected from the salon floor and stuffed into stockings to make Hair Booms that can one day help clean up oil spills along our coastlines.
All collected ponytails 20cm or longer are distributed to charitable organisations to create wigs for those suffering from cancer or alopecia.
Chemicals are collected, pooled and sent to chemical recycling plants where they’re neutralised and turned into recycled water.
Select disposable hygiene products used during treatments are pulled apart and the materials are sent for repurposing.
